Advent is a time when we repent for our sins as Christ is coming. We have to look back on our actions and change our attitude. We have to not be a hypocrites by asking for forgiveness and doing the same sin again.
I am a Year 8 student at Saint Patrick's School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 8 and my teacher is Mrs. Dines.

A very special day.
Today was a special day. This day was practise for the upcoming 2017 Year 8 graduation. My role was part of the offertory where we would place gifts in the alter for the church. As I practised my roles I felt a mix of emotions. Happy, sad and mostly proud as I was part of a community called Saint Patrick's.

Technicraft Term 3 week 10
Coding is when a set of instructions is given to a computer or AI (Artificial Intelligence) in it’s own unique language. It is mostly composed of numbers 1 and 0 to make a certain letter. For example 01000101 01110101 01100111 01100101 01101110 01100101 translates into Eugene.
However the very basic programs or engines like scratch and code.org make it easy for young coders to produce content like games and videos. I tried to make a game about rheumatic fever which is a severe fever affecting the throat. It was based on the known Galaxy Attacker game where you would have to dodge enemy pellets and deal them out on your own. This was the project I worked on during my time on 1 term course about coding.

Tonga after school
After comparing Tonga to my after school period, it is different as the scale of extremity of activities. Children in Tonga have to work to help their family however most of us are relaxed and occasionally help out. Homework still exists in both countries.

Family Dinner for Sopee and I
This is a poster of Sopee having dinner with her family. There are many differences from her dinners and our dinners.
There are many similarities from Sopee’s way of dining from mine. For example, the light levels are very different as Sopee’s dining room is dark. Sopee’s portions are only enough for each of the family members however I have extra portions that are completely unnecessary. However rice and vegetable are always almost present like Sopee’s. Both of us use both utensils and hands to consume our food.

School Lunches Persuasive Writing
Walht: Plan my writing with detail.
School Lunches
Persuasive writing
Schools should sell a variety of healthy but scrumptious food to consume. If the food is affordable, healthy and delicious the problem of drowsy and tired students could be solved.
Firstly there are many different varieties of delectable and fresh meals that could be sold to students. For example, salads or sandwiches can have different type of meats to keep the consumer happy with the balance and the taste. Milkshakes could be made with fruits and milk to keep it healthy but delicious.
Secondly, the school will be able to earn some profit and be supported slightly. However there are one or two problems that could be countered easily. One of them, is for buying the vegetables, if the school has a garden the vegetables could be grown fresh. Hiring someone could be expensive but, the school could request for volunteers who would help out in the kitchen. The equipment could be fundraised with a sausage sizzle.
Lastly, the school could have attractive pictures to attract consumers to purchase meals. This will terminate the worry of having no one buying them.

Holiday Writing
As the sun rose up, I was ready to start my day of my long awaited dream of two weeks of friends, family, and fun! I started with a scrumptious breakfast of rice and choice of different sides like eggs. After washing up I had remembered that my parents were both at work, and my brother was at his holiday school camp. This meant that I had the house all to myself. After doing my usual duties I decided to turn on my laptop, and call my friends and play Unturned.
Jesse, Blake and I were ready to build bases, travel in convoys and defend ourselves from hordes of zombies and other merciless people who kill for loot. We built multiple wooden towers with sentry turrets ready to fire at intruders. This went on for several hours of huge firefights with firearms, eventually our supply of ammunition had depleted.
With the last few bullets left in the magazine and drums of our gun, we eventually died and lost our gear. With frustration, I decided to take a needed break and eat lunch. I decided to play Geometry dash, a jumping, flying, wave, and dashing game. After a good amount of time, I decided that my day was over!

Technicraft Week 7 Term 2
Different Chemical Reactions
Want to do this word find? Take a screenshot and put it in a google drawing or print it
The Year 8’s of Room 8 were on a whole different level of thinking. The different reactions that can be caused by different properties from the different matter or chemical properties. There were two different reactions, physical and chemical reactions, both of which can be determined by two simple factors, can you turn in back and has a new substance been created? For example water - ice is a physical reaction due to the fact that no new substances have been created and it can be turned to it’s original state.
The main two chemicals were NahCO3/Baking soda and HC2H3O2/Vinegar were observed for it’s various but similar reaction when they are meet. The first thing that a person would see was its rapid expanding rate and the colour change. There are many different hidden changes that eyes itself won’t be able to notice.
Changes of smell, texture and temperature will easily be observed. The easiest change is an endothermic change causing it change temperature to be a colder variant. The sounds made are the common dehydration and evaporation of bubbles which is the familiar “Pop,” sound. The texture was a fine foamy liquid filled with gas bubbles a a creamy caramel colour.
The easiest change identified, is the reducing volume amount. The reason for this is when the liquid becomes a foam, some of the vinegar and baking soda becomes gas which become released.

Technicraft Week 6 Term 2
Have I caught your attention? Read ON!
The following experiments carried out by the Year 8’s from Room 8 was carried out with heavy amounts of interest. Objects around the world was only thought to have one properties of matter, however this is false. Different conditions are required for the changes to occur.
Shaving cream was observed to see it’s texture, feel and state of the cream. The cream did not move by itself, meaning it had the characteristics of solid, not moving by itself. When a coin was dropped on it, the coin went through the cream//foam with ease, characteristics of gas and liquid being easy to move through. This was called a colloid.
A colloid is an object that had more than one characteristic of different states of matter. However this was only one example of colloids.
Cornflour and water was combined to make an unusual solution for the experiment. A slimy and viscosity changing liquid was contained in the plastic jar. A metal knife was used to stir the strange liquid and the effects to be observed. The harder it was stirred, the harder it was to stir. It changed viscosity the more pressure was applied to it.
A small amount of this liquid was placed on a hand, and the effects to be observed once again. It was a cold and slimy substance that felt like ice-cream. When it was poured, it felt full of viscosity and hard to pour. This is because of the pressure from the gravity pulling the liquid causes it to increase its viscosity.

Techicraft
Have I caught your attention?? Read on!
Room 8’s Year 8s were in a interesting lesson of Technicraft the subject being, science. The lesson was to teach the students about the structure of a bubble, how different chemicals and ingredients affect the life of a bubble.
A plastic drinking straw was required to blow into a solution composed of sugar, water/H2O and detergent. The previous experiment was almost similar if not the same, with the exception of the presence of sugar. Considering that detergent increased the longevity of the bubbles, the sugar would either decrease or increase the time of evaporation and dehydration of the bubbles.
However, when the air was forced into the solution, it had formed a big bubbly mountain of bubbles. The shape of the bubbles no longer consisted of spheres as the shapes were now connected with a decently sized wall and having a honeycomb like shape.
After cleaning up the bubbly and wet mess, the next experiment was ready to begin. The task was to observe what occurred when bubbles were formed inside a bubble and to see the possible amount of bubbles that are able to be fitted into one (volume). The students felt desperate with every bubble blown but looking at it from a scientific perspective, many changes could be seen. An example of this was when a bubble was blown inside a bubble. The expanding bubble could cause the other bubble to dehydrate or evaporate and in most cases expand at almost the same rate.
The last and most difficult experiment was to see the measurement of time and distance the bubble could cover in a life. The experiment proved that the size of the bubble can affect the life having bigger ones evaporating and dehydrating before the more smaller sized ones.

Rotorua Trip
Have you been here?? I have!! Read on!
Writing:
In my first few day of my holidays, I visited Rotorua. It was a wonderful place to visit with a cost, the smell. The sulfur was disgusting but the places we went made the whole trip worth it. The trip took three to four hours however, multiple stops were made for either food or bathroom issues. The arrival to the hotel was the most relaxing part of the trip because we had to carry and transport a decent number of belonging to our room. Due to the long time spent sitting in the car.
After dropping of all the items and taking a well-needed break, we headed off to ride the luge which is similar to go-karts except powered by gravity. I was allowed three rides with one scenic path and two times into advanced/intermediate.
However, after this activity, we were too tired to tired to proceed with anymore so we headed “Home”. The next day we visited a spa pool where the heat from the sulfur was used to make relaxing pools the contained minerals that benefit us. The next location in the itinerary was a gorgeous location filled with the name of Government Palace/Gardens. The scent of the different types of flowers was strong that it neglected the smell of the sulfur.
After having lunch at the Gardens, it rained so we visited a place called Motion Entertainment where there multiple different types of games ranging from bowling to an indoor trampoline park. The activity I wanted to do was laser tag. However, they were not available at the moment as they were fully booked so I chose the Indoor Tramp Park. I was able to do multiple front flips and backflips without fear.
Sady the last night in Rotorua came and we traveled to our hotel with ease. Despite reaching the hotel, it was 6:00 and we were tired but not drowsy. We had friends who came along and there were only two other one of which was my baby brother. I played with the other child who was named “Jj.”
The next day was the last and the most exciting day. We went to amaze me which was a gigantic hedge maze. After that, the most amazing activity was chosen, agro ventures. This was a mini fun amusement park filled with a handful of activities from bungee jumping and a sweep. (That’s what it’s called) The sweep was a bicycle like tube where it hangs from a rail and you paddle it. I chose the swoop, however, which was a huge crane that lifted us up from the ground 90 degrees and drops us down.

Science Experiment
Have I caught your attention? Read on! Don’t be shy!
Science was an extraordinary topic that explains all the functions of even the most basic things. Today was an exciting piece of art, that explained how air travels through liquids i.e. bubbles. However, we started with the most basic form of liquid, water.
A piece of straw was used to blow short bursts of fast air, to force it at the very bottom of the liquid. My hypothesis was true as the bubbles dehydrated and evaporated in the matter of nanoseconds. The most interesting part of this brisk experiment was that when multiple bubbles were blown. The bubbles looked to stay for longer.
The next part that made a chill run down my spine was the detergent part. The detergent was a poisonous liquid used for cleaning dishes. The reason why it was a risky experiment was the fact that it was possible to swallow it. I was afraid of the rumors of losing brain cells or passing on two days later.
Luckily, I, however, did not swallow any single amount of detergent.
The experiment consisted of pouring detergent into another beaker filled with water and transferring a certain amount of detergent into one of the beakers. The next step was decently simple, to repeat the same procedure, the same steps.
The difference was that the bubbles did not dehydrate nor evaporate at the same rate as the “Bubble Water” did, as a result, we were shown how it really was. Air water detergent water detergent water air was what the bubble was really made out of!
